A visit to Isla Mujeres is one of the most wonderful opportunities for snorkeling in the Mexican Caribbean. 

Surrounded by calm and striking  turquoise waters, this small Caribbean island is 8 miles from Cancun in the state of Quintana Roo. Isla Mujeres offers a variety of activities to all who come to visit its shores.

Isla Mujeres, which means “Island of the Women”, was discovered in 1517 by Francisco Hernandez de Córdoba. He chose this name because he was surprised by the number of idols of women floating in the sea.

Today, Isla Mujeres is visited by thousands of tourists who come to see the abundant marine life such as, tropical fish, rays and sharks and to marvel at the Mesoamerican Reef, which is the second longest in the world.

Isla Mujeres offers a relaxing and fun tour from Cancun. The day starts with a 45 minute cruise, across the turquoise Caribbean waters to one of the island’s beaches. Once on the island, you will have a multitude of choices : snorkeling,  riding bikes , visiting the turtle farm or simply laying back and working on your tan! You  also have time to stroll around town and shop for souvenirs prior to boarding the boat back to Cancun.

Although snorkeling equipment is included in the tour, a $20 USD per person deposit is required for all snorkeling equipment.
