Night Life in Los Cabos

Fiesta! The word conjures up images of swirling, vivid colors amidst music and laughter. In Mexican culture, fiesta is much more than that; it's a social phenomenon rooted in history and ancient traditions. It reflects the merging of the Indians and the Spaniards who contributed their cooking, languages, religion and customs to form what has entertained Mexico and its visitors for centuries. With the festive calendar listing more than 5000 annual celebrations throughout the country, commemorating religious and civic holidays as well as patron parties and those of pre-Hispanic origin, it's no wonder Mexico's reputation is for full-blooded festive fun.

The necessary musical elements for a fiesta can be found in Los Cabos nightlife at the Forever Fiesta at marina-front Pericos in the Lighthouse. With two daily performances of the marimba Orchestra, guests are transported to the state of Veracruz represented by the cheerful sounds of this original instrument similar to the xylophone. The party at Pericos is a grand improvisation.

And, there certainly could not be a fiesta without what some consider the only thing more Mexican than tequila: Mariachi. Dressing in silver studded Charro outfits with wide brimmed hats, playing violins, guitars, bass, vihuelas, and trumpets, Mariachi sing of love, betrayal, revolutionary heroes and the life itself. For excellent live mariachi tunes, head to Margaritavilla at Boulevard Marina for weekend night performances or enjoy their music as part of the fiesta nights at The Office Medano Beach where you will have a chance to see the most popular Mexican folkloric dances.

A Los Cabos fiesta is always a family affair, and Playa Grande Resort makes no exception with its Sunday evening true Mexican fair. To the sounds of live mariachi music, kids and adults play traditional Mexican games. The party is crowned with the kid's favorite candy-filled piñata, the symbol of a Mexican celebration.

Whether you are visiting or living in Los Cabos, you can't miss out on an authentic Mexican fiesta. Opportunities are plentiful and the rewards triple with great food, fun, and a glimpse of a fascinating slice of Mexican culture.
