About Cozumel

This beautiful island was lunched as an international tourist destination more than 50 years ago, when scuba divers and beachgoers discovered its crystal clear waters and its picturesque village by the sea, San Miguel. Today, the island has grown up, with world-class hotels , restaurants and tourist attractions. But at the heart, its's still the same cozumel, with friendly people, beautiful views, and the blue waters of the Caribbean lapping at its shores.

Cozumel Night Life

Raucous as a frat party and just as lively, Carlos 'n Charlie's is a Cozumel tradition.  Festive drinks and wacky menus, inspired silliness from the waitstaff, music played for the express purpose of inciting people to dance, preferably on the tables—it all contributes to Carlos 'n Charlie's trademark carefree atmosphere.

In business for over 20 years, Carlos 'n Charlie's is a winner of the Mexican government's prestigious "H" award for good service, hygiene, and food preparation, and since 2004 certified on ISO 9001:2000

Festivals and Traditions

Carnaval  Generally held in February, the dates of Cozumel Carnaval depend on the date of Easter and change every year. Dating back to the last century, Carnival has deep roots in the community, and everyone in town participates filling the streets, squares, restaurants and bars.  Costumed groups of all ages dance and perform in the streets and in the grand parade of floats.

El Cedral  A tradition for 150 years, this festival is held the first week of every May in Cedral, the old island settlement.  It originated with the Yucatan War of Castes; a survivor of the war promised that he and his descendants would honor the Cruz, the cross, for all their lives.  It has evolved into a country fair preserving its commercial, agricultural and cultural roots in the Mayan tradition.

San Miguel  Incorporating both religious and popular traditions, the feast day of the patron saint of the city of San Miguel is in September.
